Specialist Training in NeuroMassage For Neuro Degenerative Conditions.

About this course

At the end of this course, you’ll develop the knowledge, clinical reasoning and confidence to safely support people living with progressive neurological conditions through specialist NeuroMassage education.

Australia Needs More Massage Therapists Who Understand Neurodegenerative Conditions

As Australia’s population continues to age, more people are living with progressive neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease (MND). These conditions often affect movement, muscle tone, sensation, fatigue, communication and everyday function, creating unique challenges for both clients and the therapists who support them.

Many people living with neurodegenerative conditions seek massage to help improve comfort, reduce muscle tension, support relaxation and enhance their overall wellbeing. Yet many massage therapists feel uncertain about working with these clients because their needs often change over time.

Unfortunately, most massage qualifications provide little or no education about adapting massage for progressive neurological conditions.

Specialist Training in NeuroMassage for Neurodegenerative Conditions was developed from more than two decades of clinical experience working with people living with neurological conditions. The programme helps qualified massage therapists develop specialist knowledge, stronger clinical reasoning and the confidence to safely adapt massage within their professional scope of practice.

What is NeuroMassage?

NeuroMassage is Neuro Training School’s approach to adapting massage for people living with neurological conditions.

Rather than following a routine treatment, you’ll learn how to assess each client individually, understand how progressive neurological conditions affect the body, recognise important precautions and adapt massage according to the person’s presentation, goals and changing needs.

The emphasis is always on thoughtful clinical reasoning and person centred care.

Why Specialise in NeuroMassage for Neurodegenerative Conditions?

Progressive neurological conditions rarely follow a predictable pattern. Two people with the same diagnosis may present completely differently. Symptoms may change gradually over months or years, or fluctuate from day to day. One client may experience muscle stiffness and rigidity. Another may experience fatigue, altered sensation or reduced mobility. Someone else may have tremor, weakness, communication changes or difficulty with everyday activities.

When someone living with a neurodegenerative condition contacts your clinic, it’s natural to ask:

  • Is massage appropriate?
  • How should treatment be adapted?
  • What precautions should I be aware of?
  • How do I manage changing symptoms?
  • How should I adapt treatment for fatigue or reduced mobility?
  • What if communication has been affected?
  • How do I work safely as the condition progresses?

These are not signs of inexperience. They are signs of professional responsibility. This course teaches you how to assess each client individually, think clinically and adapt massage safely within your professional scope of practice.
